Okay, it's been almost a week now since I started this blog of my progress. I didn't get any words added through the week. I've been thinking about how to structure the novel. I am pretty sure that I need to scratch the prelude and the first 5 chapters. That information I will sprinkle throughout the rest of the book. I either need to start the book with what is now chapter 6, or with an even better scene of conflict.

This morning I have done some more work on what is now chapter 7, fleshing it out and adding about 1100 words. I think this will end up being the second chapter in the revised work. Chapter one will begin in the middle of some action/conflict and will show Tasia's original rescue of Jain (and this is the first time they meet). Chapter 2 will show them beginning to get to know one another a little bit and allow me to give a little bit of info on what's going on.

I also did some quick calculations.  If I figure a novel as 80,000 to 90,000...

Okay, I am currently working on my fantasy novel. I really need to come up with a title for this thing!!!

I have been torn about what to do with this book. I am starting about starting the book with what is now chapter 6 (tonight I wrote chapter 7). If I do that, the material covered in chapters 1-5 will be sprinkled into the rest of the book via flashbacks and dialog.

Any thoughts on this?

I am going to start keeping a writing blog to try to "keep myself honest". Please feel free to comment on the entries--to give me encouragement or the much-needed kick-in-the-pants....whichever is required at the moment.

I know that a lot of writers set a daily or weekly word-count goal. I think this is a good idea, however, I don't know what a realistic goal would be for me. I think that a daily goal would be unrealistic. There are just some days that I don't have time to write. That said, I think that it IS important for me to write something every day...even if it's only a few words.

I think a good ultimate goal is an average of 1-2000 words per day. For now, I'll give myself a day off per week, so that comes to at least 6000 words per week. So that can be a tentative goal, and I will see how realistic it is.

So for now, I have two goals:

1) To write something every day.

2) To write at least 6,000 words per week.

Now, onto my projects. My main focus right now is my fantasy novel, which still lacks a title....
